The 10 Francs Djibouti banknote, issued in 1946, features a multicolored front and back print, with a multicolored underprint as well. The serial numbers are printed in black.
The front of the banknote highlights the portrait of a young man facing right. The French inscriptions include the designation of the issuing institution, "BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE", the face value "DIX FRANCS", and the location "DJIBOUTI". The signatures of the president and the general manager are also present. The names of the artists, R. POUGHEON (FEC.) and G. REGNIER (SC.), are mentioned, indicating their respective roles as designer and engraver.
The back of the banknote depicts a camel caravan moving to the left. The text is printed in French, Arabic, and Amharic. A legal notice warns that "LE CONTREFACTEUR SERA PUNI DES TRAVAUX FORCÉS A PÉRPÉTUITE" (The counterfeiter will be punished with forced labor for life). The names of R. POUGHEON (FEC.) and A. CHAPON (SC.) are also present, indicating their respective contributions to the design and engraving of the back.
The embedded watermark represents the head of Mercury. The dimensions of the banknote are 98 × 65 mm. The printer is the Banque de France.
