This banknote, with a face value of 200 escudos, was issued in Cape Verde in 2019. It belongs to the AM series and weighs 1 gram. Its dimensions are 124 mm in length and 62 mm in width.
The front of the banknote features the figure of Henrique Teixeira de Sousa. His portrait is intaglio printed and superimposed on a medallion reproducing a piece of pano di terra and the map of Fogo Island. The lower part of the banknote is made in offset and features a lithographic microtext that is not visible to the naked eye. A watermark, also representing Henrique Teixeira de Sousa and measuring approximately 25.3 mm in height, is integrated on the left side of the banknote, covering approximately one third of its surface. The signatures of the Governor and Administrator of the Bank of Cape Verde are affixed to the left of the portrait, just below the map of Fogo Island. On the same map, a bunch of grapes from the Chã das Caldeiras region is printed in intaglio, with the inscription BCV in microtext.
The back of the banknote presents a perspective of the Peak of the Fogo Volcano, printed in offset. This image is also applied to a medallion made up of a di terra fabric motif. It should be noted that this new 200 escudo banknote circulates in parallel with the current polymer banknote. Both versions are legal tender and must be accepted as means of payment. The distribution of this banknote to the public is carried out through credit institutions.
