The 500 Riel banknote issued in 2014 by the National Bank of Cambodia. Its monetary unit is the riel.
On the front of the banknote, there are several distinct graphic elements. The Naga, a mythological serpentine creature, is depicted. The Cambodian coat of arms is also featured, symbolizing the State and its sovereignty. The portrait of King Norodom Sihamoni occupies a prominent place, highlighting his role as head of state.
The back of the banknote features a more complex composition, showcasing infrastructure and cultural symbols. The Neak Loeung Bridge is visible on the left, while the Kizuna Bridge, located near Kampong Cham, is positioned in the center. A relief of the Bayon, a temple famous for its sculpted faces, appears in the background. On the right, the Japan-Cambodia Friendship Monument commemorates bilateral relations between Cambodia and Japan.
Several inscriptions appear on the banknote. The mention "National Bank of Cambodia" indicates the issuing institution. The year of issue, 2014, is also clearly indicated. The dimensions of the banknote are 140 mm in length and 65 mm in width.
