The 5000 Cruzeiros banknote, issued in 1965, belongs to series 483 and represents a face value of 5000 cruzeiros. This banknote was issued by Brazil.
The obverse of the banknote features a dominant solferino red color, produced using polychrome chalcography and offset techniques. An oval medallion, positioned on the right, highlights the portrait of Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, better known as Tiradentes (1746-1792). The inscription "REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL" is printed above the medallion, while the inscription "CINCO MIL CRUZEIROS / VALOR LEGAL" is placed below. On the left side of the banknote are the print number, the serial number (at the top) and the order number (in the center), as well as the signature of the director of the Amortization Fund. On the right, there is the order number (at the top), the print number, the serial number (in the center) and the signature of the Minister of Finance (at the bottom). The name of the printer, THOMAS DE LA REU & COMPANY, LIMITED, is also mentioned.
The reverse of the banknote is printed in ruby red by chalcography. It reproduces the painting "Tiradentes ante o carrasco" (Tiradentes before the executioner), a 1951 work by Rafael Falco (1885-1967). This reproduction is framed by the label "REPUBLICA DOS / ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL".
The dimensions of the banknote are 157 mm in length and 67 mm in width.
