Description

This banknote was issued by the Banco Central de Bolivia in 1962. It has a face value of 50 Bolivian pesos. Its dimensions are 154 millimeters in length and 66 millimeters in height.

The front of the banknote has a dominant orange color on a multicolored printed background. The portrait of Antonio Jose de Sucre appears on the right of the banknote. The coat of arms of Bolivia is positioned to the left of the portrait. The inscriptions "BANCO CENTRAL DE BOLIVIA", "CINCUENTA PESOS BOLIVIANOS", "LA PAZ" and "LEY DE 13 DE JULIO DE 1962" can be read. The inscriptions are in the Latin alphabet.

The back of the banknote depicts the Gate of the Sun, an archaeological monument located in Tiahuanaco. The inscriptions "BANCO CENTRAL DE BOLIVIA" and "CINCUENTA PESOS BOLIVIANOS" are also present on the back, written in the Latin alphabet.

Antonio José de Sucre is an important historical figure in the independence of South America. He was a military leader and politician, a companion of Simón Bolívar. Sucre was notably President of Bolivia. The Gate of the Sun is an emblematic monument of the Tiahuanaco culture, a pre-Inca civilization that developed in the Lake Titicaca region.

The banknote was issued under the law of July 13, 1962.
