This 1000 Mark banknote was issued in 1922 by the German Reichsbank, in a context of hyperinflation that characterised the Weimar Republic in the early 1920s. This period saw a proliferation of high-denomination banknote issues in order to meet the growing needs of monetary circulation in Germany.

The banknote belongs to the Mb-MM series, a reference that allows this specimen to be precisely identified and classified among the various contemporary issues. One of its distinctive features is its serial number printed in green, which constitutes an important differentiating element compared to other variants of this same banknote that may feature different printing colours for their numbering.

In terms of security, this banknote incorporates a watermark depicting vertical waves, visible by transparency in the paper.
