Description

This banknote, with a value of five shillings, was issued in 1967 by Biafra. It belongs to the A/O series.

The obverse of the banknote features a central motif composed of two young girls carrying loads on their heads. The background consists of a rural scene with trees and dwellings. The face value, "5", is printed in the upper left and lower right corners. The word "BIAFRA" appears at the top of the banknote, and the denomination "FIVE SHILLINGS" is inscribed at the bottom.

On the reverse, the main motif is a majestic palm tree, a symbol of the region. The value "5" is repeated in the upper left and lower right corners, framed by graphic ornaments. The mention "CENTRAL BANK OF BIAFRA" appears at the top of the banknote, indicating the issuing institution. The full denomination, "FIVE SHILLINGS", is also present at the bottom.

The banknote is predominantly green, with touches of yellow and brown to enhance the details of the motifs. It weighs one gram.
