This coin has a face value of 10 euro cents and was issued by Belgium. It is struck in Nordic gold, an alloy of copper, aluminium, tin and zinc, which gives it a distinctive golden yellow colour.
The coin weighs 4.1 grams and its diameter measures 19.75 millimetres. The year of issue, 1999, is engraved on the coin.
The obverse of the coin depicts the portrait of Albert II, King of the Belgians at the time of issue. The name of the monarch, "ALBERT II", is inscribed in an arc above his effigy. Stars, symbols of the European Union, are also present on this side.
The reverse of the coin shows the face value, "10 EURO CENT", as well as a map of Europe. The details of the map may vary slightly depending on the versions and years of minting. The mint mark, a distinctive symbol of the mint, may also be visible on this side.
This coin is part of the first series of euro coins issued by Belgium after the introduction of the single European currency. It was put into circulation from 1999, during the transition to euro banknotes and coins.
