This 10 Francs banknote was issued by the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Ruanda-Urundi. Dating from March 1, 1957, and part of the A/E series, it reflects the historical and economic context of this region at that time.
On the front of the banknote, the representation of a soldier of the "Force Publique", also called Askari, is visible. The inscriptions in Latin indicate "BANQUE CENTRALE DU CONGO BELGE ET DU RUANDA-URUNDI", followed by the face value "DIX FRANCS". The mention "PAYABLES A VUE" and the date "01.02.58" are also present. A legal warning is included, stating that "LE CONTREFACTEUR EST PUNI DE SERVITUDE PENALE".
The back of the banknote features a giraffe. The inscriptions are written in Latin.
The dimensions of this banknote are 130 mm in length and 69 mm in width.
