Description

Plis, épinglages, salissures

This Austrian banknote, with a value of 10 Schilling, was issued on January 2, 1950 by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank in Vienna. It is distinguished by its neat illustrations and inscriptions.

On the front, the banknote features a rider from the Spanish Riding School, depicted in front of the Hofburg, a complex of historical buildings in Vienna. The inscriptions include the face value "10" as well as "Zehn Schilling". The name of the issuing institution, "OESTERREICHISCHE NATIONALBANK", and the date of issue "WIEN, AM 2 JÄNNER 1950" are also found. The mentions "PRÄSIDENT", "GENERALRAT" and "GENERALDIREKTOR" are also present, followed by the signature "RUPERT FRANKE inv. et sculp.", indicating that Rupert Franke is both the inventor and sculptor of this motif. The name Franke Rupert is also mentioned as engraver and designer.

The reverse of the banknote depicts the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, another emblematic building of the city. The banknote measures 132 mm in length and 65 mm in width.

This banknote testifies to the artistic expertise of Rupert Franke, who designed and engraved the obverse and reverse motifs. The combination of equestrian and architectural representation highlights important elements of Austrian cultural heritage.
