The 5 Argentine Peso banknote from Series B, issued in 2015, features distinctive characteristics on both sides.
On the obverse, the banknote displays a portrait of General José de San Martín, an emblematic figure of Argentine independence. The inscription "BANCO CENTRAL DE LA REPUBLICA ARGENTINA" appears at the top of the banknote, followed by the face value "CINCO PESOS". The name of José de San Martín is also inscribed, accompanied by his years of birth and death (1778-1850). A quote attributed to him, "Para defender la causa de la Patria no hace falta otra cosa que orgullo nacional", completes this side.
The reverse of the banknote depicts a group of South American freedom fighters. From left to right, we can identify José Artigas, Simón Bolívar, José de San Martin and Bernardo O'Higgins. The inscription "Republica Argentina en unión y libertad" is present, as well as the mention "LIBERTADORES DE AMÉRICA". Another quote, "Divididos seremos esclavos, unidos estoy seguro que los batiremos: hagamos un esfuerzo de patriotismo, depongamos resentimientos particulares, y concluyamos nuestra obra con honor.", is also inscribed on this side.
The dimensions of the banknote are 155 mm in length and 65 mm in width. The script used on the banknote is Latin.
