The front of the banknote features a portrait of Dr. António Agostinho Neto. The inscriptions in the Latin alphabet include the name of the issuing institution, "BANCO NACIONAL DE ANGOLA", as well as the face value of the banknote, "1000 MIL KWANZAS". The face value is repeated in numbers.
The back of the banknote features a representation of the Luvili Peak, located in Huambo.
