The 50 Georgian Lari banknote, issued between 2004 and 2013, pays tribute to Queen Tamar of Georgia. This banknote is part of the F series.
On the obverse of the banknote, there is a portrait of Queen Tamar, an emblematic figure in Georgian history, whose reign is often considered the golden age of the country. Next to her is a representation of the astrological sign associated with Queen Tamar. Geometric and floral decorative elements, typical of medieval Georgian art, frame the portrait and astrological sign, adding an aesthetic and cultural dimension to the banknote's design. The face value of 50 lari is clearly indicated in numerals and letters.
The reverse of the banknote features a view of Vardzia Monastery, a cave monastery complex located in southern Georgia. This historical site is a remarkable example of medieval Georgian architecture and testifies to the country's rich culture. The representation of the monastery is accompanied by ornamental motifs and Georgian national symbols. The face value of the banknote is also repeated on the reverse.
The 50 Lari banknote is printed on special security paper, incorporating advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting. These features may include a watermark representing a Georgian national motif, micro-printing, and special inks visible under certain lighting conditions.
