Description

The 2 Lari banknote, issued in 2002, pays tribute to Georgian composer Zacharia Paliashvili and the Tbilisi State Theater. This banknote belongs to Series B.

On the obverse, the portrait of Zacharia Paliashvili is positioned on the right. In the center, a representation of the overture to his opera "Abesalom and Eteri" is printed. On the left, a borjghali, an ancient Georgian symbol representing the sun, is present. The serial number, preceded by the prefix "A", appears in the upper right and lower left corners. The face value is indicated on the right. The signatures of the Minister of Finance and the President of the National Bank of Georgia are also affixed to the obverse.

The reverse of the banknote features an illustration of the Z. Paliashvili Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theater, a major cultural landmark of Georgia. This theater is named in honor of Zacharia Paliashvili, highlighting his importance in the Georgian musical landscape.

This banknote measures 115 millimeters in length and 61 millimeters in width. It is legal tender in Georgia and also serves as an artistic and cultural representation, honoring an iconic figure of Georgian music and an important cultural venue.
