Slovakia's euro coins have been legal tender in the euro area since 1 January 2009. They all have different designs with a common theme for all three types:
- on the 1, 2 and 5 cent coins there is Mount Kriván, the highest mountain in the country
- the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins feature Bratislava Castle
- on the 1 and 2 euro coins there is the double cross on the three mountains, which remains the national emblem of Slovakia.

Universal Brilliant corresponds to the English expression Brilliant Uncirculated. These coins are minted with new tools which ensure a superior quality. They are more highly polished than regular coins and have never been put into circulation.
