In 2021, the Monnaie de Paris struck a new ?1 quarter banknote in current metal featuring a childlike animal.

Surrounded by plum blossoms, a symbol much used in Chinese history and art, and lanterns, the Rabbit is depicted in a childlike manner.

The reverse features all the animals of the Chinese zodiac, drawn in a childlike way around the Ying and Yang symbol. From 2018 to 2029 there is a complete cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Each of these twelve years features an animal from this calendar. The face value is visible in the centre of the denomination and the wording "RF".
