This second 2013 Italian commemorative 2-euro coin (after the one dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi) is dedicated to the writer Giovanni Boccaccio.
Born in 1313 in Certaldo, Italy, the Italian Issuing Institute is commemorating the 700th anniversary of his birth. He is one of the creators of Italian literature.
