The Euro coins of France all have different designs with a common theme for each of the three types:
- the 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict Marianne, the symbol of the French Republic ;
- the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins depict the Semeuse, a theme that has long been present on French franc coins;
- the 1 and 2 euro coins The tree, symbolising life, growth and durability, is shown in the centre of a hexagon. The Republican motto "liberty equality fraternity" surrounds this motif.
