The Cyprus euro coins all have different designs with a common theme for each of the three types:
- the 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict the island's characteristic mouflon sheep;
- the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins depict the ship of Kyrenia, a town on the north coast symbolising the island's links with the sea;
- the 1 and 2 euro coins show the Idol of Pomos dating back to the Chalcolithic period.
