To mark the 35th anniversary of the ERASMUS programme, a common commemorative 2 Euro coin is being minted by all the countries of the European Union. The design created by Joaquin Jimenez, general engraver at the Monnaie de Paris, won the competition organised by the European Commission. This design is a blend of two major elements of the Erasmus programme: the original intellectual inspiration of Erasmus itself and the allegory of its influence on Europe. The first is symbolised by one of the best-known representations of Erasmus. The second is symbolised by a bundle of links running across the room from beacon to beacon, representing the many intellectual and human exchanges between European students. In reference to Europe, some of these links form other stars born of the synergy between countries. Figure 35 for the 35th anniversary comes out of the stars in a contemporary graphic style. "

A l'occasion des 35 ans du Programme ERASMUS une pièce de 2 Euros Commémorative commune est frappée par l'ensemble des pays de l'Union Européenne. C'est le dessin réalisé par le graveur général de la Monnaie de Paris Joaquin Jimenez qui a remporté le concours organisé par la Commission Européenne.

Cette conception est un mélange de deux éléments majeurs du programme Erasmus : l'inspiration intellectuelle originale Erasmus lui-même et l'allégorie de son influence sur l'Europe. Le premier est symbolisé par l'une des représentations les plus connues d'Erasme. Le second est symbolisé par un faisceau de liens traversant la pièce d'une balise à l'autre représentant les nombreux échanges intellectuels et humains entre les étudiants européens. En référence à l'Europe certains de ces liens forment d'autres stars nées de la synergie entre les pays. La figure 35 pour le 35e anniversaire sort des étoiles dans un style graphique contemporain.
